Airborne Toxic Event Concert...

Photobucket
On Wednesday Steve and I were able to have a fun date night and go to the Airborne Toxic Event Concert at a small club in Salt Lake City called In The Venue. It is my second time seeing them live and I love that lots of people haven't caught on that they are such an awesome band and that they are still playing smaller clubs. So much more fun and intimate in my opinion. They are seriously one of the best live bands I've ever seen... they show up to put on one heck of a show. The bands chemistry is awesome and so is the music. If you haven't already, you should definitely check them out! My sister Shalane and her boyfriend Jamison met us there and we all had a great time.

Our Valentines Day...

Photobucket
We all had a great Valentines Day this year! Steve had these beautiful flowers delivered to me at the house and sent me the sweetest email. He also sent me a hilarious e-card... I will just leave it at that ;) I gave him a gift certificate for 6 laser hair removal treatments... before you laugh just know that he was excited about it because he spends so much time shaving most of his body. I also made this card for him online at Pro Digital Photos and absolutely loved how it turned out so I thought I'd share it...

Steve also arranged for a babysitter to come over that evening so we could have a date night. We had dinner at my favorite restaurant, Cafe Paesan (you have GOT to try their new Steak flatbread sandwich-seriously to die for) and then went shopping for a frame for the family picture we want to have enlarged.

Photobucket
Earlier in the day the kids and I walked around the neighborhood and delivered Valentines from the kids to some of their friends. It was so cute to see their reactions.

Thanks Steve (and kiddos) for such a wonderful Valentines Day! I love you so much and am so glad your mine forever...

Smok'n Hot Date Night...

Photobucket
Saturday evening (after taking the kids to the zoo earlier that day) I was so ready for a break (I love you Maddy and Avery!) Luckily Steve had planned the perfect date night! I put on some black high heals, jeggings and red lip stick and couldn't wait to leave! We have a good friend (that is also one of Steve's clients) that has an awesome car collection and offered to let us take one out. Steve was a little too nervous to take the Lamborghini or Ferrari (since they both cost more than our house) and so after debating between a few others (which include an Audi R8 and a Porche Panamera) he decided to take the Nissan GT-R... which is his favorite anyway. It was so much fun and has so much power (and just over 3000 miles on it!) Indulge me for a minute while I post a few pictures...

Steve made sure to point out to me the awesome detaining job he did on the car mats-did you notice the lines? A couple of the feature that I thought were cool was it has a push-start red button and you can switch back and forth between manual and automatic.

Photobucket
We went and had dinner at my new favorite restaurant Cafe Paesan before taking a nice scenic drive up Provo Canyon... so beautiful! Seriously the leaves are all turning colors and it was like driving through a painting...

The pictures are a bit blurry because they were taken while driving in a fast car... don't worry of course we stayed on the paved roads :) I couldn't resist posting this next picture...

Photobucket
0-60 mph in 3.5 seconds... What is it with guys and speed!?!

After our drive we did a little shopping, filled up the gas tank and Steve did a quick detail on the car before returning it... he is a pro because he details them every week and it was part of the deal :)

Thanks John for letting us borrow your ride for a night-so awesome! Thanks Shalane for watching our kiddos-you are awesome!

Whatever Wednesday: Inception...

Photobucket
Saturday night Steve and I went out and saw "Inception" with our friends Brad and Jamie. It was such an awesome, trippy movie! Loved it and want to see it again. Go see it! Thanks Laney for watching the kids-you are awesome!

Armed (and not so dangerous)...

Photobucket
... at least me! Ha! Friday was date night for Steve and I. Steve planned it this time around so guess where he took me... the shooting range! He has been wanting for me to learn how to shoot his gun for some time now. I'm a bit intimidated by guns and would be the type that would crawl under my bed, curl up in a ball and cry if someone were to break into our house. Anyhow, when he mentioned going I was actually kind of excited. I'm always up for something new and exciting! He showed me how to load it and all that good stuff while we were there. I must admit as soon as it was my turn and I had the gun in my hand I was nervous! Call me crazy but I was more nervous then when we went skydiving last year. My heart started racing and my hands got all sweaty and I wasn't sure I wanted to do it. I was most afraid of how well I'd be able to handle the gun. I actually asked Steve if he could help me... like put his hands over mine. He just laughed and told me to just do it. After the first shot I felt a lot more comfortable and had a fun time. It was kind of an adrenaline rush. I do need to work on my aim though... my shots stayed on the paper for the most part but I had a hard time getting them to land on the number I was trying to hit. I was usually too low... so watch out guys-if you ever try and break into my house and I've got a gun pointed at your chest guess where you're probably going to get hit... haha! Steve has had more practice and of course he did awesome! He got 14 of his first 15 shots on the 3 and the 15th shot was the one closest to the three.

We shot 150 rounds between the two of us and this was our damage. Most of the random shots I have to claim... After finishing we did a bit of thrift shopping for Halloween costumes (I know I'm crazy but I'm excited) and then we went and had dinner at Cafe Paesan. YUMMY! If you live in the area and haven't tried it yet, GO! One of Steve's friend/client's (and his wife) was there so it was fun chatting with them while we ate dinner. After dinner we came home and watched a movie together. Thanks Steve for a super fun date night!

Whatever Wednesday: Iron Man 2...

Photobucket
Saturday night we got a babysitter and went and saw Iron Man 2. I liked it but Steve was a little disappointed. He thought the first one was a lot better. I really liked Scarlet Johansson's character.

Body Building Competition...

Photobucket
Saturday our really good friend Justin was competing in the NPC Body Building Competition in Salt Lake. We have seen him compete on several other occasions over the years (Steve hasn't missed a show yet) and so of course we were excited to go. Steve usually misses most of the show because he is backstage helping him get ready. He also helped Justin's wife Heather and his friend Scott. They all did such an awesome job. Seriously... I can't believe the human body is capable of looking like that. They each won first place in their class-Justin in the Mens Heavy, Heather in the Women's Figure Medium and Scott in the Mens Super Heavy. Heather and Scott also took the show and won the overall categories. It was a great show and I have such admiration for the hard work, dieting and dedication that goes into competing in these shows. While Steve was backstage during the show I hung out with four of our friends-Brad, Jamie, Brooke and Aaron.

Valentines Day...

Photobucket
Maddy's preschool class had a fun party and exchanged valentines the Thursday before Valentines Day. I'm not quite sure he knew what Valentines Day was but he does now. He was so excited when he came home from school with his Valentines bag. Of course among the treats was a box of "conversation hearts." He wanted to know what they all said so he would hold them up and I would tell him. One of them said "U R Hot", he looked at me confused and so I tried explaining it to him by saying, "It means you are soooo cute, you are hot." He quickly said, "Does it mean you are fire... too?" I just started laughing. In the picture above he is holding a green one (of course) that says "Be Mine." The kids also got Valentines in the mail from my parents and their cousin Jace. Valentines Day fell on a Sunday this year so Steve and I went out and ate at Red Lobster the Saturday before with our good friends Brad and Jamie on Saturday. We had a great time as usual. We've finally started using babysitters and have been going out almost every weekend. The kids really love having the babysitters come and play with them. It has been so nice, I can't believe we didn't start earlier.

Whatever Wednesday: Avatar...

Photobucket
Steve and I saw Avatar in 3D over the weekend and we both loved it! It felt like you were in a really cool dream and it was visually breathtaking. It was long (almost 3 hours) but it kept our attention the whole time. I would definitely recommend seeing it in 3D while it is still in the theaters.

Christmas Party...

Photobucket
On Saturday Steve and I were invited to one of his clients Christmas parties. It was at the Marriott Hotel and we had a great time. The food was great as well as the entertainment...

Photobucket
Jon Schmidt entertained us on the piano. He is very talented and entertaining. I have featured his "Love Story meets Viva La Vida" on one of my "Music Monday" posts so I was pleasantly surprised to find out he was performing. He did an awesome job and even played for us laying upside down. We were all sent home with signed copies of his cd's which is also awesome!

We got a non-family member babysitter for the first time and the kids had a fun time playing with Summer. I have a feeling we will be going out a lot more often.

Skydiving...

Photobucket
As I'm sure a lot of you know Steve and I went Skydiving on Saturday(6/27/09) to celebrate our 13th wedding anniversary which was earlier this month. I had been wanting to go for quite a while and we were finally able to go. It was SO fun!!! Seriously!!! It was the biggest adrenaline rush I have ever had and we can't wait to go again! :) I think I want to try Paragliding before going again though. :) If you have ever considered going you should just go! You only live once right!?! It is hard to explain but it is the most amazing feeling. It is way different then the butterfly feeling of roller coasters(which I love as well.) People don't believe me but I wasn't scared at all. I don't know why I guess I'm just crazy! I did get butterflies a little as we were flying up in the plane but it was because I was so excited! I do have to say I was taken back by the pressure of the air while you free fall at 120mph(probably cause I'm claustrophobic), but I still loved it! It is also kind of funny how it distorts your face and skin(so not flattering!) We jumped at 13,000 feet(2 1/2 miles) and Steve free fell for 50 seconds and I for 60 seconds. My partner Phil and I back flipped out of the plane but Steve and his partner didn't because their combined weight(with parachute pack) was around 500 pounds and it is harder to stabilize that much weight. The tiny parachute you see when we first jump is just for stabilizing. Steve's favorite part was the actual free fall and mine was after the parachute opens and it is instantly quiet(as opposed to how loud it is while free falling) and peaceful and you really feel like you are flying(at least how I've always pictured it.) My partner and I had a lot of fun during the "after the chute" part doing lots of spin and stuff. I even got to steer and guide some spins. The view is SO beautiful and you can see the entire Great Salt Lake. It kind of sucks that the photographer can't film this part cause they are landing themselves and getting ready to film your landing. They film your free fall(which is in major slow motion of course) and then head down to land themselves and get ready for your landing. After I landed I was a little nauseous... probably a combination of being really hungry and the "dumping" of the adrenaline. We were also really tired and came home and took naps. :) Anyway here are our first jumps. There is a video of each of our jumps and then of course tons of pictures. We make a couple cameos in each others videos so watch both. :)

Photobucket
Steve and his partner Mike(who is our really good friend and has been jumping for 12 years and has over 1200 jumps.) I'm not sure Steve would've ended up going if he wasn't able to jump with Mike. :)

Walking out to the plane.

Photobucket
I love how Steve and I are totally smiling at each other. :)

Photobucket
You have the option of wearing jumpsuits but Steve and I both opted not to. The weather was warm(and perfect) and I wanted to feel the air on my skin(which was cold in the refreshing kind of way) and it felt awesome :)

Photobucket
My partner Phil and I(who was AWESOME and has over 4000 jumps.) My camera guy is on the left side of the picture.

Photobucket
The crew... camera man directly in front of us, partner behind us. Steve looks focused doesn't he? Someone also totally "broke wind" while in the plane... it was pretty funny! At the end of my video you can hear someone say "I smell fear." That is what he was referring to. Too funny! No one fessed up so I'm assuming it was the older man that jumped first(it was his first jump in 25 years.)

Photobucket
Steve getting ready to jump(fall), You can see his camera man's hand holding onto a green strap on the outside of the plane waiting for them to go. It is so cool how they can do this. The camera and video camera are attached to their helmets. Steve's camera guy played around with them a bit and grabbed Steve's hand and then let go and sent them spinning during the free fall. I was last out of the plane so I got to see Steve jump and land which was fun.

This is when his parachute opened up and you bounce back up a bit. Steve said it was a bit uncomfortable for him(due to their weight), but it didn't bother me at all. I actually got that butterfly feeling on this part. :) All the spinning and playing around happens after this part.

Photobucket
Coming in for the landing. They landed pretty quick(again due to their weight) and Steve got some grass stains on his butt. :(
