Airborne Toxic Event Concert...

Photobucket
On Wednesday Steve and I were able to have a fun date night and go to the Airborne Toxic Event Concert at a small club in Salt Lake City called In The Venue. It is my second time seeing them live and I love that lots of people haven't caught on that they are such an awesome band and that they are still playing smaller clubs. So much more fun and intimate in my opinion. They are seriously one of the best live bands I've ever seen... they show up to put on one heck of a show. The bands chemistry is awesome and so is the music. If you haven't already, you should definitely check them out! My sister Shalane and her boyfriend Jamison met us there and we all had a great time.

New Years Weekend...

Photobucket
Over the New Years weekend Steve, Avery and I were pretty sick (Maddy was finally getting over it.) We weren't feeling up to much so we didn't go out on New Years Eve (Thursday.) We pretty much hung out and watched movies and TV. Steve and I both ended up falling asleep on the couch and finally made our way to bed at about 11:30 PM. As expected right at midnight fireworks started going off, kids banging pots in our street and the texts starting coming. We weren't sleeping yet so technically I guess you could say we stayed up to ring in the New Year.

Friday night our good friends Chad and Hillary were in town from California. We've been wanting to catch the local band "Broke City" with them for some time and it turns out they were playing in Salt Lake. So they asked if we wanted to go with them. We found a babysitter last minute and went. We got there too early so we decided to go to the "Melting Pot" and have some cheese and chocolate fondue. We always have such a fun time with them and had some interesting conversation. After we finished eating we headed over to the venue (Urban Lounge) and I think the band finally came on around midnight. Needless to say it was a late night and we didn't get home until 2 AM. The band did a great job and we really enjoyed the entertainment as well as the company.

Saturday night we decided to check out "Pirate Island Pizza" as a family. We planned an outing with my sisters Jamie (and family) and Stacy. Overall we had a fun time. It was a really busy night and I thought the food wasn't all that great. The kids LOVED playing games with their Dads while we waited to be seated and they got pirate hats and balloon animals. There was also some live entertainment which I enjoyed. Here are a few pictures from the night.

Yes Avery is sticking her balloon in her nose...

This was Steve and Maddy's favorite game. They got tons of tickets playing it. Maddy was excited to cash them in for his prizes.

Photobucket
I love how excited he looks in this picture!

Photobucket
Thanks Jamie (and family) and Stacy for a fun outing.

Photobucket
Sunday we still weren't feeling that well so we didn't make it to church. We all relaxed and watched some movies. One of which was "500 Days of Summer." I really liked it a lot and would highly recommend it if you haven't seen it yet.

No Doubt/Paramore/The Sounds Concert...

Photobucket
On Monday(5/25/09) Steve and I went to the No Doubt/Paramore/The Sounds concert at the E Center in Salt Lake City. We went with our friends Chad and Hillary and had a great time! Before the concert we stopped for some yummy pizza at SetteBello's. It was really good and I would highly recommend it! The show was awesome and I thought all three bands(which were all fronted by females) did great! I think I was almost as excited to see Paramore as I was to see No Doubt. You can check out the review in the Deseret News here. I have linked some videos from Youtube on some of the songs. You can check them out on the set list's below. They played all their hits and had tons of energy. We had great seats(second section away from the stage, front row-thanks Chad), and I was able to get some pretty good pictures(although the quality isn't the best)...

Photobucket
Our friends Hillary and Chad. They were looking up info. about the opening bands.

Photobucket
We got there during The Sounds set and I tried to get a picture but the lighting was too bright. This picture is of Paramore who I thought were awesome! Steve also really liked both opening bands. I can't believe Hayley is only 19... how would it be? The crowd was already pretty full and was pretty loud during their set. Hayley said something like "wow, we are only three songs in and this is my favorite show so far!" Of course they ended with "Decode" and the crowd went crazy. Part of the song is linked at the bottom of the post where I listed their set list.

Photobucket
This was how No Doubt opened the show... it was really cool and got everyone pumped. They all walked up and then kind waited a while (letting the energy build) then the curtain came up and everybody went crazy. They were all dressed in white and the whole set was white. It looked super cool and futuristic. You can check it out here.

Gwen sounded great!

They had different videos and pictures on the big screens during the show. They even showed some cool footage of the band in the really early days.

Photobucket
I just love Adrian! Always entertaining and usually barely dressed.

The band had so much energy and were all dancing most of the time. The crowd was the same and it was very loud! There was a couple in front of me dancing their little hearts out... it was HILARIOUS and I almost got trampled by the guy a few times. Steve and I were cracking up the whole time! You can check out the introduction of all the band members here.

Photobucket
Gwen brought this little girl on stage and she was so excited! Gwen was funny and asked the girl if she smelled when she gave her a hug. You can check it out here.

Gwen brought her son Kingston out so everyone could sing happy birthday to him. It was so cute. He came out with the head phones on and she took them off so he could hear everyone singing and he immediately covered his ears so she put them back on. His little wave was so cute! You can check it out here. The last song before the encore was "Just a Girl." Of course Gwen started the song doing pushups. You can check it out here. She also had a little competition between the guys and girls in the crowd to see who could sing the loudest. It was really fun. Of course the girls won... I guess the guys weren't thrilled about singing "I'm Just a Girl." :) You can check it out here.

Photobucket
For the encore Gwen changed again and as you can see so did Adrian(drummer)...

Photobucket
He came out in a white tutu and black and white striped leggings. It was hilarious! He even had a strap up his backside. You can check him out here. He also came down into the audience a bit.

Photobucket
The band members had great stage chemistry.

During the last song "Sunday Morning" Gwen also came down into the crowd for a bit. You can check it out here. You might want to turn your volume down, the sound quality isn't good.

Photobucket
It was an awesome, high energy show and I'm so glad we went. Thanks Chad and Hillary for hanging out with us, it was tons of fun! Thanks Justin for watching the kids!

Music Monday: The Airborne Toxic Event(Concert)...

Photobucket
On Thursday my sister Shalane and I went to the Airborne Toxic Event concert at the Murray Theater. It was a blast! We were lucky enough to be first in the will call line(most people already had their tickets) so we were among the first into the venue and were right up front(and center) against the stage. There were three opening bands so it made for a long but fun night. The line up was Elemental, Alpha Reign(local band from Orem), Meese and The Airborne Toxic Event. They were all entertaining. I was pleasantly surprised at how much I loved all of The Airborne Toxic Event's songs. They are all so fun to dance and jump around to and the band had SO much energy, which was contagious! I would highly recommend them if you ever have the chance to catch them live. Of course my favorite song is "Sometime Around Midnight" which I've already posted, but here is the song they opened up the show with and it rocked! It is called "Gasoline."

I have added a bunch of their songs to the bottom of my playlist if you want to check them out.

Here are some more pictures from the concert...

The opening acts.

She closed her eyes a lot and got lost in her own little world when she was playing. If she wasn't playing she was running around jamming and flirting with the other band members which was fun to watch.

Photobucket

Photobucket
He was literally right in front of me and at one point came to the very edge of the stage(where my arms were resting and almost stepped on me. I had to move back until he moved. I was just glad he wasn't really sweaty because I would've been drenched from all of his head banging throughout the show! :)

Photobucket

Photobucket
Shalane and I with the stage right behind us. Waiting for the main act.

Photobucket
This was really cool-he was using a bow to play the guitar and they were both just going at it.

Photobucket
The band all jamming together. Their stage chemistry was awesome!

Photobucket
She was such a cutie and went nonstop the whole time. During the last song(Missy) she jumped into the crowd. When she made her way back to the stage she came right in between my sister and I and climbed up(she had a hard time because the stage was high and I wasn't sure if I should try and help her or not) and then layed on this speaker right next to me. It was pretty funny-I think we all felt that way by the end of the show. Just plain tired!

Photobucket

Goofy Shalane. As you can see we had a lot of time to kill in between acts.

Photobucket
I had tons of fun and it was so nice just getting out and having a break from the kids(even though I love them to death.) Thanks Steve for watching the kids! Thanks Laney for coming with me! It was so much fun! You made me feel young again. We will definitely have to do it again.
