Funnies: His Wish...

While rocking Maddy before bedtime (I used to rock him every night when he was little and he has asked me to start rocking him again at night...)

Maddy(5): "Mom, when I blow out my candles and make a wish on my next birthday you are going to love it! Mom, really, it's something you are going to love, you are going to love my wish..."

Funnies: Big Girl...

We were getting ready to go to Seven Peaks and I was in my swimsuit while fixing Avery's hair...

Avery(4): "Mom, why do you have boobs?"
Me: "When you grow up and become a big girl you get boobs."
Avery(4): "Mom, I'm already getting boobs..."

Funnies: Lightning...

Maddox(5): "Mom, I know how the sky makes lightning... you know how all the towns have lights? The lights shine up into the sky and make lightning."

She Likes to Move It Move It...

Steve took this video of Avery on Friday while he was training me at the gym. The kids were supposed to be sitting on the couch watching the movie they brought on our laptop. It was pretty funny, she really got going to the beat of the music (and wasn't aware we were recording her.)

That Word that Rhymes with Fetch...

Avery was crawling around like she was a dog and Maddox was throwing things for her to "fetch"... except he kept yelling the b word that rhymes with fetch. When I asked him why he was saying that he said that's what you say to a dog when you want it to get something... he now knows the correct term :)

Chef's-a-Burning...

After running in the house cold from playing outside...

Maddy: "I'm burning like ice!"

... I'm pretty sure he meant freezing :)

After sucessfully making both he and Avery peanut butter and honey sandwiches all by himself...

Maddy: *sigh* "It's a lot of work being a Chef!"

Haunted House...

The kids were running around pretending they were killing monsters...

Avery: "Maddy, please play house with me!"
Maddy: "We were playing house, we were killing monsters..."
Avery: "But I want you to play house with me."
Maddy: "We did, the house was haunted, now lets finish..."

Infinity..

Maddy has been really into numbers lately... minutes, hours, days, weeks, months, years, etc. He always wants to know how long things are or how long until a specific event like birthdays, holidays and such. He is also trying to learn how to count to 100 and usually just gets messed up on a few numbers between 12-20 and then multiples of 10 (20, 30, 40, etc.) Once he gets help with 30 for example he can count 31-39 but then needs help with 40. He is pretty funny because he just throws around numbers that don't make sense. For example I will tell him we are leaving in 5 minutes and recently he said "Can't we stay for 100 more hours?" He is also always wanting to know how old people are and wishes he was older than them or thinks it is so funny if I'm older then them. Usually he says he wishes he was 100. The other day we got home from somewhere and we were unloading the car and this was our conversation...

Maddy: "Mom do you know infinity is more than 100?"

Me: "Yes, that is like forever."

Maddy: "I wish I was infinity... that's how old I want to be."

Me: *laughing* "Really?"

Maddy: "Yep, I do!"

Those Days are Gone...

The other day Maddy found a picture of he and Steve when Maddy was around 3 months old. In the picture they were all ready for church and Steve was holding him...

Maddy: "Dad, look how little I was."

Steve: "I know you were so little and quiet... what happened to those days?"

Maddy: *said with a bit of attitude* "Dad, those days are gone... !"

Never Choose the Left...

We were discussing the movie we watched on Sunday night, "Percy Jackson and the Olympians: The Lightning Thief." Specifically about the "Medusa" character and Maddy was telling me he wouldn't look at her eyes no matter what...

Maddy: "Mom, I would keep my eyes closed so tight so she couldn't turn me into stone."

Me: "Well I'm so glad because I wouldn't like it if she turned you to stone because I would miss my Maddy hugs so so much!"

Maddy: "I know Mommy!"

Me: "No matter how hard someone tries to trick us we should always try and choose the right huh?"

Maddy: *spoken as if I had insulted his smartness* "I know Mom, *insert a visual DUH!* we never choose the left!"

P.S. He is all into left and right lately. While we are driving he is constantly asking me if I'm turning left or right next.

Iron Boy...

Photobucket
Maddy went to his friend Joshua's birthday party on Monday before we headed to Seven Peaks as a family. He had lots of fun playing on the blowup water slide and loved all the Iron Man stuff he got to bring home. He's had tons of fun playing with this mask (and ring!)

No Treat For Avery...

Every night when I'm putting Avery to bed I tell her if she doesn't go potty in her diaper I will give her a treat in the morning (she is potty trained except at night.)

Every morning when she wakes up I'm greeted with a big smile and raised arms and then she says "No treat for Avery!" She says it like it's funny and she is proud of it. Funny girl!

Complex Questions...

"Mom, if I get my shovel and dig and dig, what is underneath all the dirt?"
"Mom, what is inside the sun?"
"Mom, who is the boss of the whole wide world?"
"Mom, how do bees make honey?"

These are some of the questions Maddy has asked me in the last couple days. I have a feeling they're only going to get more and more complex...

The Moon & Me...

Photobucket
At the receiving end of a dare, on a night not too far in the past, I may or may not have done a moonlight dash down the driveway, to the street and back wearing nothing but my one-of-a-kind birthday suit...

... as far as I know, there was only one witness. *fingers crossed*

And, I guess I'm really a sucker for dares... otherwise you wouldn't be reading this.

Little Mama...

The other day Avery was in the highchair eating. She had been there a while (because she was eating so slowly) and was busy singing (the happy birthday song) and talking to herself and this is what I heard...

Avery: *in a stern voice* "One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight, nine, ten... now you go in time out!"

Sometimes when I'm trying to get the kids to mind I will start counting. I rarely even make it to three though (and always stop if I do.) And until I heard this I didn't even know she could count to ten without help or without skipping any numbers.

The same night we were starting to eat dinner together at the table (which is kind of a rare occasion) and she reminded me that we needed to say the prayer. Usually if I forget Maddy reminds me, but she beat him and this was the first time. So I helped her say her first prayer.

She is growing up way too fast...

Nana's & Bills...

In the car while driving to my sister Stacy's house...

Maddy: "Mom, I love my Grandma so so much."
Me: "I know you do and she loves you so much."
Maddy: "Mom, there are two kinds of Nana's, one is my Grandma and the other is food."
Me: *laughing* "You mean a banana?"
Maddy: "Yes, there is my Nana and bananas you can eat."
4/14/10

Maddy was holding some of his coins he earned while helping Steve detail cars...

Maddy: "Mom you can have this money so you can buy bills."
Me: "You mean pay bills?"
Maddy: "Yes, I will give it to you."
Me: "That's so nice and thoughtful but you can keep it, it's your money you earned it."

Thoughtful Gift...

Maddy: "Mom do you know what I'm going to get you for your birthday present?"

Me: "What?"
Maddy: "I'm going to get you some new socks with no holes in them."
