Museum of Ancient Life...

Photobucket

On Tuesday we headed to the Museum of Ancient Life at Thanksgiving Point. We decided to go on Tuesday because it is only two bucks. Looking back next time we will probably pay the extra money to go on a different day so it's not so crazy. It was so crowded and we actually had to wait in line just to get in. Due to the wait by the time we got in the kids were a little grouchy because it was lunch time and they were hungry. Of course we still managed to have fun. I have been fascinated by Dinosaurs since I was little so I thought it was really neat. I can't believe I haven't been before.

My two sisters and I with our kids.

Miss Avery.

Photobucket
A bit of a monster himself, Maddy!

Photobucket
Just beautiful! I wish I could go explore stuff like this somewhere! Here is some of the other cool stuff we saw...

Photobucket
My favorite of the Dinosaur exhibits! Doesn't this just look like an attack waiting to happen?

Photobucket
Other cool Dinosaur exhibits...the biggest one was too big to even get a picture-amazing how big these creatures really were!

Photobucket
Maddy and Dallin both love anything to do with the ocean!

Photobucket
Maddy sitting at the claw of one of the Dinosaurs. I wouldn't want to get attacked by that!

Photobucket
Maddy and Dallin having some fun together when they weren't grouchy...

Photobucket
My favorite picture of the day...Avery's Dinosaur growl-so animated!

Photobucket
The three of us...

Photobucket
My sister's friend Gina and her daughter Takoma also came with us. She was the first of us to get in line and let us sneak in with her. I think this is such a cute picture-I love how you can see their reflection's!

Photobucket

Maddy's favorite part of the day...lunch! We ate at the "Expedition Cafe" inside the same building as the Museum. The kids meal included "Dino" nuggets, chips and a drink in a Dinosaur souvenir cup. All of which Maddy loves! Now he only wants to drink out of this cup at home.

Thanks again Jamie and Stacy for another fun filled weekly outing!

Dinosaur Talk...

Before leaving to go to the Dinosaur museum on Tuesday...

Me: Maddy, do you want to go see the big dinosaurs?
Maddy: Yes, Mommy do you want to go ride the dinosaurs?
Me: Maddy, we can't ride the dinosaurs but we can go see them.
Maddy: Mommy, Diego has dinosaurs.

Olympic Women's Gymnastics...

And the gold medal goes to...

...Nastia Liukin!

You can watch a video of all of her routines from last night here.
Silver medalist Shawn Johnson of the United States, gold medalist Nastia Lukin of the United States and bronze medalist Yang Yilin of China make up the medal podium in the women's individual all-around artistic gymnastics final. How exciting for the United States! After a disappointing silver medal in the team competition Nastia and Shawn take gold and silver. Gymnastics is always the highlight of the Summer Olympics for me. It was such an awesome(and intense) competition last night. I love watching Nastia perform! She is so eloquent(especially on uneven bars and balance beam) and well deserving of the gold! She had an amazing night! Here is a video tribute of some of her Olympic moments...

First Time...

Photobucket

This was Maddy's first time blowing bubbles a couple weeks ago. It took him a while to figure it out-he would spit instead of blow. He's now addicted and gets to blow bubbles on Thursday's while I mow the lawn(we've already gone through two containers.)

I'm so glad Joshua won! It was all because of my votes(jk). Anyway here is a tribute video I found on youtube for Joshua(and Katee).

SYTYCD 4.8...

Last night my sisters Jamie and Laney joined me to watch the remaining 4 contestants on SYTYCD. We had a great time! The contestants had to dance 5 routines each. They had to all dance with the other contestants(even the two boys together and the two girls together), a solo routine as well as a group routine. Crazy! You could tell they were all so wore out. Before last nights top four finale I wasn't sure who I wanted to win(I loved them all.) After watching last night I can now say I want Joshua to win. I even voted! He did awesome(as he has all season) and in my opinion deserves it the most. He is so good at what he does as well as everything else that has been thrown at him. Here are my favorite dances from the night...

My favorite was Twitch & Joshua's Russian Trepak(a first for SYTYCD) Routine performed to "The Nutcracker Suite" by Tchaikovsky, choreographed by Youri Nelzine. This was a testosterone filled battle between the two guys and was full of good old fashioned entertainment! I can't believe how awesome and incredibly high Joshua's three "eagle" jumps were! Holy cow! How does he do that?

My next favorite was Katee & Joshua's Lyrical Routine performed to "Slow Dancing In A Burning Room" by John Mayer, choreographed by Wade Robson. Can I just say I was so excited to see something done by Wade-its' been a long time and he's one of my favorites! Wade's inspiration for this routine is that love is hard work but it's the best thing that you will ever work for in your life. The routine was about two lovers who have just had a fight and are making up. I loved it and think almost anyone can relate to the emotion of it.

My favorite solo was Joshua's performed to "(Not Just) Knee Deep" by Funkadelic. Joshua was very flirty and it was full of chest popping, bootie shaking(calm down Jamie)and stomach rolling action.

Another Trip to Veteran's Pool...

Photobucket

Monday was another fun outing with my sisters and kids. We headed to Veteran's Pool again. We have lots of other fun stuff planned for the coming weeks but want to get in the pool time while it's hot.

Photobucket
Maddy is so predictable! He has a circuit that he pretty much sticks too-jumping, splashing...

Photobucket
Blowing bubbles(or may be drinking the water?)...

Photobucket
Until he makes his way down the slide. Then starts over and repeats this until I have to drag him out to go home.

Photobucket
My favorite picture of Jamie and Claire. Jamie really wanted to take Claire down the slide and found out at the bottom when the lifeguard blew his whistle at her that this slide is only for kids. No wonder she had to duck her head when going down. At least she got a cute picture out of it and I think she could almost pass as a kid(that's a compliment Jamie!)

Photobucket
My favorite picture of Stacy and Jace! So, so, so adorable!

Photobucket
My favorites of my nephew Dallin! Check out that tongue and those bum cheeks...

Photobucket
My favorites of my niece Claire! She is such a cutie and I love her bathing suit!

Photobucket
Isn't Jace such a cutie! He could totally be the Gerber baby!

Photobucket
Avery again trying not to smile...

Photobucket
This is how Maddy and Dallin spent most of the 15 minutes when the pool was cleared to test the water. Chasing each other...

Photobucket
Dallin and Avery. Dallin was so excited about holding all the babies one at a time.

Photobucket
All our kids. They only stayed put long enough for us to snag a couple pictures. They are all kind of in their own little world but I think that's what makes the picture so cute.

Photobucket
My scraped up, goldfish eating, "cheese" saying boy who loves swimming.

Photobucket
The kids eating some snacks.

Photobucket
A "smiling" Avery(with her leg up of course!)

Photobucket
I wasn't feeling up to swimming so I enjoyed reading(eclipse), relaxing and watching the kids play in the water. I even had a little entertainment and was flashed(we will leave it at that.) On the way back to the car I was trying to distract Maddy(he didn't want to leave of course) and I was telling him that daddy was home and he could go home and kick the soccer ball with him. That started a cute conversation with him and Dallin, that had us all cracking up. It was so adult sounding. It went something like this...
Maddy: "Dallin I have a new soccer ball."
Dallin: "I want to play with your new soccer ball. I bet it is a neat soccer ball!"
Maddy: You want to come to my house Dallin and play with my soccer ball?
Dallin: Yes, I will be over first thing in the morning.
Maddy: OK!

Photobucket
Maddy had so much fun and went non stop until we left and then he crashed in the car on the way home. I love how you can tell he was sucking his two fingers, holding "burpie"(which is how he puts himself to sleep) and then he was out.
Thanks Jamie and Stacy for another fun adventure!

Uno, Dos, Tres...

Photobucket

The other day Maddy was busy playing with his toys and talking to himself. As he was playing he starting counting in Spanish. I thought I was hearing things so I stopped what I was doing to listen and sure enough uno, dos, tres... He even started mixing counting in Spanish and English. He can count to diez(ten) but usually skips a couple numbers. Once he gets to ten he starts counting in English. I'm assuming he learned it from watching Dora because I know he didn't learn it from me(as much as I wish I could take the credit.) While on the subject of Counting here are some of the countless things I want to remember about my little boy at this age(2 1/2).

Photobucket

He still loves his little green bike and is constantly riding it and has a hard time sharing it. In the picture above you can see his latest scrapes(on his nose and forehead) from crashing on his bike.

He can dress himself with just a little help and likes to pick out his own clothes(although sometimes I override the decision.) Still loves to wear his jammies during the day.

He is still very attached to "burpee's."

Still wants us to "Hold you."

Is very forgiving if we get upset at him.

Loves doing anything with his daddy including help clean the fish tank, feed the fish in the pond, go anywhere in his truck with him, go shopping, watch tv, kick the soccer ball, go swimming, go for walks, work in the yard, go to the fish store, go to the dirt bike store, blow bubbles, etc.

He enjoys playing with other kids now(especially Dallin, Wil, Cooper and Meagan.)

He is very good at remembering things. If you tell him he can do something in the morning when he wakes up that is the first thing out of his mouth.

Whenever he sees me with my camera he just automatically says "cheese."

He pretends small objects(like Steve traveling alarm clock, and random toys) are cameras and pretends he is taking pictures, he makes sure he tells me to say "cheese."

He loves playing "steam roller" with Steve before bedtime.

He has the cutest little trot that he does when he's excited.

He is curious about body parts and can name all of his body parts.

He is very good at remembering names.

He loves to color and is constantly coloring us pictures.

He loves "church day"-especially nursery.

He talks with complete sentences and is starting to use bigger words like delicious, beautiful, perfect, etc. He also will still start talking in his own (foreign)language and will just go on and on with none of it making any sense. He knows his full name but slightly mispronounces that crazy last name of ours.

His favorite phrase right now is "Oh my goodness!"

He says really cute prayers(with some assistance.)

Recently he has started asking how old we are. He thinks Steve is "three minutes."

He is very good at making sound effects(dirt bikes, vehicles, animals, etc.)

He loves giving high fives and knuckles.

He loves watching Diego, Backyardagains, Wonder Pets and Dora.

Whenever I tell Maddy I don't think he will like something(food) he makes sure he likes it and says "I like it" after he tastes it. If he REALLY likes something he says "yummy, yummy, yummy." He also LOVES all kinds of sauce and would have a meal of just sauce if I would let him.

He loves books but will rarely let you sit and read them to him. He likes to flip through the pages and name things or ask what they are.

He is very independent in all most all aspects of life.

He likes most foods but doesn't usually eat full meals at once-he likes snacking throughout the day(drives me crazy-but at least he is eating I guess.)

He loves water and would drink, or play in it all day long if I would let him.

He is always making sure Avery is happy and goes and gets toys for her.

He has to be the one to open and close Avery's door at her nap time and always says "hi princess" when we go in to get her.

He sleeps about 10 hours at night and takes a 2 -3 hour nap.

He is very curious about fire and fireworks.

He is afraid of buzzies(flies) and most insects.

He is very polite and almost always says please, thank you so much and your welcome.

He finds ways to stall at bedtime like always wanting water when he is already in his crib.

He hates his hands being dirty or sticky.

When I go in to get him out of his crib in the morning or after nap time he covers his eyes and asks "Where's Maddy?"

He loves smelling things(even if they aren't pleasant smelling.)

He puckers his lips when he is unhappy or whining.

He is very imaginative and pretends he is making us(and Diego) food and tells us to eat it and carefully hands it to us.

When we are driving in the car he points out every tractor, bus, balloon and flag he sees.

He has a fake laugh that he does whenever we are laughing or say something is funny.

He loves dirt bikes, four wheelers, airplanes, helicopters, trucks, buses, any kind of ball, jumping, hiding, blowing bubbles, legos, playing in the dirt, pulling weeds, being chased, Avery, the list goes on and on.

Randomly throughout the day he tells me "Mommy I love you so much." And then we have a contest back and forth telling each other how much we love each other. He also tells me how cute my hair is.

Maddy, I just want you to know what a special spirit you have and how lucky we feel to have you in our lives. You are such a joy to us and are a constant reminder to us how important it is to live in the moment and enjoy these fleeting moments with you! You are growing up way to fast and I wish I could memorize how you are right now-you are at such a fun age. Hopefully some of the things I've listed(and the many pictures I take of you) will help me remember this time when you are older and not my LITTLE boy. Always remember how much we love you-Mommy & Daddy.

6 Quirks Tag...

The rules are to link the person who sent it to you (Joanna from "The Outlet") mention these rules in your blog, then (the fun part) tell us about 6 random, unspectacular quirks that you possess. Then tag 6 others to do the same.

1. I'm a little ocd about having my house and car doors locked. My house doors are always locked even when we are home during the day. I just feel safer that way(both keeping people in and out.) Steve and I also both check all the doors at night before we go to bed. I also always lock my car doors when out and about. Even if I'm just running into a small store and I'm able to clearly see my car from the store. I also never leave my purse in my car(even in the garage at home.) We are also very anal about keeping our garage door closed even during the day when we are home-unless we are out in the yard.

2. I too have a constant urge to check my email and reader acct. throughout the day. I'm not as bad now that our office is downstairs because I have to physically go downstairs. Joanna-I agree the Internet is addicting and so are blogs!

3. I don't really sweat. Seriously, when I work out or do anything strenuous I just get hot and flush but never actually sweat. It might partially be due to my exercise induced asthma(which makes me slow down before I get to worked up.) I'm also grossed out if there are really sweaty people around me(like dripping) so I'm glad Steve is a really clean person.

4. If I'm excited about something or have something I really want to get done it is almost impossible for me to sleep(my mind won't stop.) I used to could sleep anytime and anywhere! The worst was when I finally decided to start my blog and my mind was going with ideas for titles and such and I finally just went into blog mode for about a week until I "caught up." Literally I was a blogging machine and blogged posts starting from my wedding to Avery coming home(12 years) so that I wouldn't feel guilty about leaving stuff out that I really wanted to remember and have a record of(I'm lousy at scrap booking and keeping a journal and have pretty much nothing since getting married.) I literally had about 40 posts(some with about 50 pictures) in a matter of a week or two before anyone really knew that I started a blog. So that's why most of my older posts have no comments. This is also why I won't commit to something unless I KNOW I will follow through because I will drive myself crazy thinking about it. Giving my word is a BIG deal to me.

5. I'm also very ocd about handling raw meat(especially chicken.) I'm very careful about handling it but still feel like my whole kitchen is contaminated. I completely sanitize the surrounding area when I'm done. I'm also very careful not to reuse dishes, utensils, cutting boards, etc. that were used on raw meat. I drop them in the sink until I can clean up and then completely sanitize the sink and surrounding area. When I'm thawing meat in the fridge I double bag it and then put it into a large metal bowl in case the juice leaks-because that is completely disgusting to have to clean up.

6. I enjoy and look forward to getting the mail every day. I keep thinking someday there will be something really exciting waiting for me. Steve knows better than to get the mail-it's been years since he has even thought about it.

I tag:
(1) Lisa from "Bishops Bits & Pieces."
(2) Mindy from "Our Family Blog."
(3) Hillary R. from "Stop & Smell the Roses."
(4) Darcy C. from "The Cooks."
(5) Jamie from "Speed Season."
(6) Stacy from "Burrup Time."
*I also tag anyone else that wants to be tagged!

The Dark Knight...

Photobucket

Saturday night Steve and I were lucky enough to be able to actually go see this movie in the theatre. The last movie we saw together in the theatre was "Borne Ultimatum." Thanks Laney for watching the kids. As always Maddy had such a fun time and was talking about you the next day. He was so cute before he left and actually wanted us to leave(cause he knew he had Laney & Avery all to himself.) He kept saying "Bye mommy," "Love you so much!" "Bye daddy," "Love you!" We weren't even heading out the door yet. I'm glad he is so comfortable with Laney that he doesn't even care that we leave. I guess he was asking for me at bedtime though-so I have to admit it made me feel a little more missed. :) Anyway, back to the movie. We had both heard such good things about this movie and how amazing Heath Ledger was in it that I was sure we were going to be disappointed(isn't that how it usually works?) But I was wrong, it WAS amazing! Heath Ledger was SO amazing playing the Joker that it was almost too real-a little haunting! When he was on screen he completely commanded your attention. Anyway if you haven't seen it yet I highly recommend it! It is a little long(but it didn't seem like it to me) and of course it is "dark."

Breaking Dawn Party...

Photobucket

My sister Stacy and a bunch of girls from her ward planned a girls night out for the release of "Breaking Dawn." She invited me and my sisters so of course I tagged along! I'm willing to use about any excuse to get a break and go out and have fun! Actually this is why I decided to read the books. I'm almost done with the second one so I've got the vampire fever and it was fun to go-thanks for the invite Stacy! We ate at Bajio and then headed over to Barnes & Noble. It was actually my first experience with one of these crazy book release parties. There was a bunch of activities set up like face painting, fortune telling, trivia contest, costume contest, etc. There were so many people you could hardly walk through the store. The best part for me was the people watching. There were people decked out in all kinds of home made tee shirts, makeup and costumes-including prom dress, wedding dresses and of course lots of vampires.

Photobucket

Here is most of our "Team Edward" group...their tee shirts were really cute and said "Real Men Sparkle" on the front and "I Love Edward" on the back. The "vampire" in the middle was one of the Barnes & Noble employees.
Photobucket
My sisters, Shalane, Jamie and Stacy.
Photobucket
A little of our own vampire fun...
Photobucket
As you can see I'm not very good at playing the victim.
Photobucket
Stacy's picture with the vampires(I think they were suppose to be Edward and Alice.) She actually knows the female vampire's sister, She trained her back in the good old mission days, small world huh!

Bean Museum...

Photobucket

On Monday for our weekly outing we headed to the Bean Museum in Provo. Our group included Jamie and her kids Dallin & Claire, Stacy & baby Jace, Stacy's sister-in-law Ashley and her kids Brinley & baby Beckham, Maddy, Avery, and I. It is every kids dream, hundreds of animals to see as well as lots of room to chase each other around.

Photobucket

This was my favorite exhibit. Look at the hundreds of butterflies it took to make this huge butterfly-so pretty!

Photobucket
My sisters Stacy and Jamie and their kids Jace and Claire.

Photobucket
Avery on our way into the museum-of course trying not to smile.

Photobucket
Maddy and his cousins Claire and Dallin.

Photobucket
If there is a water fountain I can guarantee Maddy will find it. Maddy and Dallin took turns challenging each other to stick their nose, face, hair, whatever in it. By the time we were left Maddy's shirt was wet all down the front.

Photobucket
Two big bears and two little bears. Maddy and Dallin had a great time exploring the museum together.

Photobucket
Maddy and the zebra.

Photobucket
Jace even got some one-on-one time with the crocodile. Naughty mommy(Stacy), you are not supposed to touch the animals or jump the fence!

Photobucket

Avery and I hanging out at the museum-I got tired of trying to keep up with the boys so I just relaxed and let my sisters chase them around-thanks guys!

Photobucket
Here is just a glimpse of some of the animals we saw. Afterwards we decided to hit the BYU creamery(none of us had been before) which turned out to be a not so fun time with the kids. Just imagine Maddy and Dallin having a screaming contest(I think the animals rubbed off on them) with all eyes on us-plus is was really crowded to top it off. I think Stacy was a little embarrassed and seemed to disappear for a bit-Jace is only 5 months so he of course wasn't involved in the screaming contest but she will understand one day! :) It was actually kind of funny looking back on it now-luckily we didn't see anyone we knew! :)

Photobucket
Maddy enjoying his strawberry ice cream before the chaos started...

Photobucket
My look just about sums up our experience at the BYU Creamery! Oh, they do have great food though!

Photobucket
Have you ever seen a sadder face? This is a signature Maddy expression when he isn't getting his way or wants something. All in all it was a fun trip(except for about the last 15 minutes and the part where I had to practically drag Maddy to the car kicking and screaming.)
