Christmas in the Village...

Every year Avery's preschool has a really neat Christmas party. The kids sing, Santa comes, there are crafts for the kids and they have tons of yummy food. Steve waited in the Santa line with the kids and snapped these pictures while I waited in the food line... priorities people! HA!

The kids got to make their own little hot chocolate mix complete with marshmallows and candy cane.

Maddox's School Halloween Parade...

Maddy's school had a Halloween parade on Halloween. My Mom was here so she came with Avery and I to watch...

Avery's Preschool Halloween Program...

A week ago Friday was Avery's Preschool Halloween Program. They have a little parade and then sing several fun Halloween songs. They kids are always so cute all dressed up and singing. I was impressed at how well Avery knew the songs, it was adorable!

This second one isn't very long because my memory card was full and so it cut off during the song. By the time I deleted enough pictures it was already over. They sang several other cute songs as well that I didn't get recorded.

Spooktacular...

After we went to the Stringtown Nightmare Express we took the kids to Maddy's school Halloween Spooktacular. They received punch cards that they took to different classrooms to do activities and then once their card was full they got to go through the spook alley. I have to say I was really impressed. The spook alley was really well done and even I jumped a bit a few times. The picture above was taken while we were waiting in line.

School Carnival...

Monday was the carnival at Maddy's school. He had been looking forward to it and was excited to go after his soccer class. My sister Stacy and nephew Jace were able come with us (Jamie has been sick with strep throat.) Steve was also able to come for a little while so of course the kids were excited about that.

The kids loved launching their paper rockets and then chasing after them...

Maddy wasn't too happy about the prize he got at the Fish Pond (one of those popper things) and so I asked the girl working behind the curtain if he could trade. Of course she said yes and actually asked if we could take her spot for a few minutes while she ran and took care of something. Maddy wanted to do it and thought it was pretty cool that he got to pick the prizes for the kids...

There were a bunch of carnival games, blow-up bouncy houses, face painting, hair coloring, dunk tank (how did I not take any pics???) and a big BBQ. They kids also loved playing on the playground (Maddy was so excited to finally show me the "crooked monkey bars" he loves playing on every day at recess.) The kids had a blast and we were there until they were taking everything down.

CrAzY Hair Day...

I hadn't given much thought to what we wanted to do with Maddy's hair for crazy hair day and so this is what I came up with at the last minute when I started messing around with it right before he got picked up for school.

Friday 9/16/11

His First Day...

The day finally came... I can't believe it! My oldest started Kindergarten. Seriously, it seems like just yesterday that I held him in my arms for the first time. I remember not sleeping at all that first night in the hospital because I couldn't bring myself to put him down... I wanted to memorize his every detail. He has been so excited to start Kindergarten and I know he will do awesome. He's such a smart kid! I'm so excited for him to learn and grow and make new friends.

They had a cute area set up to have pictures taken with them before they started class, so we got a family picture taken. Hopefully they will send it out to us soon so I can post it here on the blog. They also had "Cookies for the kids to start the day" and "Kleenex for the parents to walk away..." It was pretty cute!

Maddy and three of the neighbor kids. There are actually six (including him) that all live in our neighborhood and are all in the same class... should be fun for them! Two weren't there when we took the pictures.

This picture is pretty blurry but I couldn't resist posting... it's so cute! Avery had to give him hugs and kisses before we left.

He found his desk and got right to work... without looking back. I did pretty good to, thought I would cry but I didn't.

One of the things we had to turn into his teacher was this little interview. I asked him the questions, he answered and then I wrote them down. It's pretty cute, I typed it out in case you can't read it...

Her First Day...

Avery started her second year of preschool  a week ago Monday, and she was so excited. She has the same teacher Maddy had for his second year. Steve, Maddy and I all took her to her class for her first day. Can you tell her most favorite thing right now is Hello Kitty? She seriously wants EVERYTHING Hello Kitty...

CrAzY Hair Day...

On Tuesday the kids had their first ever crazy hair day at school. It was pretty fun. Steve was home for a bit in between clients so he did Maddy's cool do and then I did Avery's. I loved how they turned out! The kids thought it was pretty cool too...

I already had the little butterflies for Avery's hair and I got all the spray paint, skateboard and crown at Partyland.

Maddy's Preschool Graduation...

Tuesday was Maddox's Preschool Graduation Ceremony. I'm amazed every day how smart he is, he has learned so much this year. He is already a great reader and is starting to write small words. Would somebody please figure out a way to slow time down! Once again the kids did great singing several cute songs and Maddox is coming out of his shell a bit and sang a lot more. We also got to watch a slide show of the kids during the year and then watch them receive their diplomas.

Avery's Preschool Graduation...

Although school doesn't get out for Summer until 5/26/11, Tuesday was Avery's Preschool Graduation Ceremony. I can't believe that it is already the end of the year and how much she has already learned. She is growing up way too fast! It was such a cute ceremony with the kids singing several cute songs, a slide show, and of course the kids receiving their diplomas. Avery was so focused on the singing and did such a great job. She actually sang quite a bit and we really enjoyed watching her.

After everyone had received their diploma they all lined up on the "red carpet" and tossed their hats at the count of three. Avery didn't catch on though and didn't throw hers, but it was still pretty cute to watch how excited the kids all were.
