Taking a Break...

Photobucket
Saturday evening we were trimming some of our bushes that were gigantic due to all the rain we've had lately. The kids were outside with us and we thought Avery had gone into the house because it was so hot (almost 100 degrees.) This is where we found her. She hadn't been her usual active self all day (even turning down all the samples at Costco) and it turns out she was getting sick and ended up with a pretty high fever.

Sunset From Our Backyard...

Photobucket
Steve (and our friend Dan) spent most of the day Saturday tearing out the pond in our backyard. When I went out to see how it was coming I couldn't help but notice (and take a picture of) the beautiful sunset...

They Do Exist...

Photobucket
If you've seen our yard you've probably noticed we don't have many flowers. We just prefer lots of shrubs and trees. Steve did break down and plant a few perennials this year. We didn't want to deal with planting annuals every year-it's hard enough keeping up on the mowing, edging, weeding etc. I think they look great and add just the perfect amount of color to our yard.

Yard Work...

Photobucket
It seems like the yard work never ends around here. I mow the lawn every Thursday and I try and do a little weeding everyday because I'm at the maintenance stage (and want to keep it that way.) Steve edges the lawn on Thursdays and takes care of the fertilizing, sprinklers, spraying, pond, etc. He also is constantly adding, removing and moving trees and shrubs. He was planting a new tree and cutting out more lawn to add shrubs when I took this picture. He did not want me to take a picture and was telling me to stop while he was laughing.

Blooming...

Photobucket
If you've been following my blog very long you know this is my favorite tree in our yard. It's actually the only tree I picked out. It has started blooming and I love checking it's progress every day. Yesterday I was mowing the lawn and it started snowing before I was done. Utah weather is so crazy! I kept noticing how pretty and vibrant the colors were so I thought I'd take a couple pictures...

Photobucket
If you look closely you can see the snow flakes in this picture.

Photobucket
I can't wait until it is fully bloomed. I just wish it would last longer!

FYI... the tree is a "Flowering Red Bud."
