This is my sisters and I and my sister Shalane's friend Heidi at my Bachelor party last night. We had a ton of fun eating, hanging out and of course watching "The Bachelor." Like I had previously mentioned I had watched some spoilers on youtube(which happened to be true) so I saw all the drama coming. I feel bad for everyone involved. I do think Jason should've dumped Melissa off camera but I have a feeling the network had a big say in how things went down. You could totally tell she knew it was coming so I think they kind of unofficially broke up beforehand. You could tell she knew something was up by the way she stomped up onto stage. and gave attitude right away. I also found it humorous that Chris gave them time alone to say goodbye but of course the cameras were still rolling so all of America could watch. I was rooting for Molly but feel really bad for Melissa! Molly's facial expressions were priceless. She was so shocked and I think she thought she was being punked. They did look cheesy happy at the end and I just really hope things work out but they probably won't given the Bachelor track record. I was also disapointed with all the build up of the Deanna drama. It was pretty lame if you ask me. I actually liked her during her two seasons but everytime I see her now she annoys me more and more. I've also heard that Jillian is going to be the next Bachelorette because Melissa wants nothing to do with the show. I'm excited to see tonights episode and see how things have worked out since the filming of the "After the Rose" episode in January. I also think that no matter who Jason would've chose the same thing would've happened. He said he completely fell in love with both of them and you always want what you can't have so I think he would've did the whole "what if" no matter who he chose. Tell me what you all think...I know you are all full of opinions!

I totally agree with you! I think that Jason is a little confused on relationships though. They aren't really about living in the moment...
Eh, I just didn't like it. I am super excited about Jillian, and it's good thing they chose to pick her, because otherwise I may have stopped watching for a while. I just don't like how much ABC tries to make it dramatic. And he was a dork for breaking up with her on live t.v.
I just think she didn't know, because I doubt she would have agreed to go on the show knowing that he was going to get with Molly like 5 mins later. I think she knew they were having issues, but I think she thought maybe they were going to make things work.
Stephanie, I agree with you 100%. However, I hadn't ever thought about what you said about how Jason might have flip-flopped anyway, even if he had picked Molly first. I really did like Molly the whole time and saw they had better chemistry, but then during the final episode, it seemed like things with Melissa got even better so I expected him to pick her but I was still disappointed.
Overall, I didn't like the logistics of Jason breaking it off with Melissa on air, but I think Jason was in a tough situation because everything had to be taped and everyone was on a contract. I definitely think he and Molly are a better couple anyway. They seemed happy last night on the final Bachelor follow-up show. But that's an interesting thought -- would Jason have done the same thing to Molly if he'd just picked her first??
I would have a hard time trusting Jason at that point, but Molly said they really had some tough talks and worked things out.
(I know this is getting pretty long, but I have one more thing to say...)
What really bothered me for Melissa was that she was right -- Jason wasn't willing to fight for their relationship. That would worry me if I were Molly trying to work on things with him. HOWEVER...if Jason knew he wasn't in the right relationship w/ Melissa, what else could he have done? Hindsight seems 20/20...but what was he required to do from ABC, and what did he really want to do???? you know?
I think Jillian will make a great Bachelorette as well! I agree with you Joanna about all the contract stuff. I think there was lots of pressure and the network of course wanted all the drama televised and so on. I also think as much as people are mad at Jason for what he did to Melissa that he did the right thing. If you know in your heart that it isn't going to work out it's better to call it off sooner than later! Relationships and marriage are hard enough when both people are on board and trying to make things work. You can't make yourself or somebody else love someone. Everything on the show is so "perfect" dates and all and it is just a bizarre situation that of course things are going to change when real life starts and sometimes they change for the worst. I also think that just the fact that he sincerely felt he fell in love with both girls made it hard and he had to make a decision so fast that how could he know how things would work out in real life. Most people start dating someone and eventually fall in love with ONE person and then get engaged and then married. The fact that he was in love with two people completely changes the normal process. I do think that since he had such strong feelings for both girls that he should not have proposed to either. He should've told one of them(or both) that he wanted to see how things worked out(without an engagement) after the show. And then see where things went and if his feelings changed, etc. I personally wouldn't want someone proposing to me if they had feelings like that for another person! I would want to know without a doubt that they only wanted me. OK I'm rambling now so I will stop.
Oh MAN! I missed out on the party this year. I didn't watch one episode, AND only stayed caught up by reading your blog. I am watching American Idol here and there. Sorry I do not have any opinions to share with you on this.
